| Rock videos, like much postmodern art
and most mass-media entertainment, do plunder all sorts of preexisting,
received imagery from both popular and esoteric culture.
Like TV commercials, rock videos are manipulative
packages that entertain and sell simultaneously (or so their makers and
backers hope)
They are a bastard offspring of art and
commerce, falling somewhere between the minimove and the maxicommercial.
